The Rector dudes have been mulling over all the ways we can wager our Playoff game booty on the Big Bowl this Sunday:
From B:
1 pt per play for the following plays (and people can add more as they see fit)
pick the winner
pick winner vs. spread
pick O/U
pick 1st to score
pick last to score
pick last to score before half
pick 1st to score after half
pick 1st to score a TD
pick 1st to kick a FG
pick coin toss
pick halftime leader
pick 1st to commit penalty
pick 1st to force turnover
pick 1st with a 1st down
pick 1st to force a punt
pick 1st to force a 3-and-out
pick 1st to request instant replay review
pick most yards total
pick most yards rushing
pick most yards passing
pick most return yards
pick most 1st downs
pick most time of possession
etc. That right there is 23 options, which should surely allow for enough permutations among pickers to separate the field. Any other
suggestions, however wacky, are welcome. I have tried to keep to a Yes or No (i.e. Steelers or Seahawks, over or under, black or white)
question format to keep things simple.
From M:
That’s a pretty good list, but there are some flaws.
I’ve been having a Super Bowl party for some years and each year there is the “pool betting” and six proposition bets:
For xxxix we did the following:
The pool paid off at the end of quarters 1, 2, 3 and game
coin toss
1st to score
uniform number of first to score TD, even/odd
yard line of first snap, 4th Q (pick a number 1 – 50)
winner
O/UThe object is to try and spread the winners throughout the game and to bet on stuff you can root for.
The following would be good as well:
pick winner vs. spread
pick last to score (that’s a good one)
pick last to score before half
pick 1st to score after half
pick 1st to score a TD
pick 1st to kick a FG
pick halftime leader
pick 1st to commit penalty
pick 1st to commit turnover
pick 1st with a 1st down
pick 1st to punt
pick 1st to request instant replay review
That’s 18 potential bets.
I’m up for making those picks… I’ll even do a wrist band if folks are interested.
Last game before the Masters.
So let’s decide and get rolling!
Results from the Party. I won, a little.
WAY too complicated for me. Requires more knowledge than I have or care to obtain. I’ll watch from the sidelines (between the 30s).
