Carol and I stopped in Rector, PA a couple of years ago. it is off of the PA Turnpike in the Johnstown (famous for the flood) area and very near the place where Rolling Rock (“33”) beer is brewed. I asked about the name at the local post office and was told that the original name of the town was Mechanicsburg, but there already was a town of that name south of Scranton/Wilkes Barre, so the name was changed honoring – they think – the biggest landowner at the time. We went through the cemetary and did NOT find any Rector headstones. The big guy must have moved on.
